
Tsunami™ Prestack Depth Migration (PSDM)
At Sterling we offer two levels of Prestack Depth Imaging Services, utilizing Tsunami™ Development's state-of-the-art Kirchhoff based depth imaging tools. With robust migration from surface, sophisticated anti-aliasing, and fast runtimes utilizing our parallel clusters, we are able to leverage Sterling's precise time processing to produce superior depth images.
Our tiered approach to depth imaging is unique in the geophysical industry. We currently offer two tiers of sophistication in Prestack Depth Imaging, Tier 1 and Tier 2. We recommend Tier 1 processing on all our time-processed datasets as an indicator of need for further work with Tier 2. In this "reconnaissance mode", Tier 1 allows you to both validate your Prestack Time image as well as provide insight and analysis to help determine the need for more advanced Tier 2 Imaging. Tier 2 Prestack Depth imaging results in superior images through additional iterative global tomography updates to the velocity field, as well as final calibration to known well control in the area with our proprietary VelWell tool. As the velocity field is updated with more accurate spatial resolution the resulting images become even clearer and more interpretable. Only Sterling offers this tiered approach as an affordable and efficient step-by-step offering to explore the benefits of depth imaging.
