Sterling Seismic Services has taken a great leap ahead in 3D and offset VSP processing! Our new approach
to VSP imaging is unique in the industry and is based on solid wave theory, STERLING's 3D processing experience,
and our proprietary software. Our methods provide repeatable results and rapid turnaround.

We can handle any number of source and receiver points. As in our zero-offset processing, we account for borehole
deviation and work through the entire processing flow using data from all three geophone components. Our proprietary
interactive approach to 3C wavefield separation is critical for removing the converted wavefield that occurs in most
offset VSP data.

We work closely with our clients to include their geologic insights in the final VSP images. Reactions from offset
and 3D VSP clients include comments such as "The detail in the image is amazing".

The example images below show a slice from a 3D VSP image and a 2D VSP image, both processed by Sterling Seismic
Services.
Figure 1. The image above is a 2D slice from a 3D VSP image. Over 650 source points were used in the processing. The
image contains a maximum frequency of about 140 Hz. Holes at the bottom of the image are due to a lack of source
point coverage.
Figure 2. The image above is a 2D VSP in which shots from 43 source points in a roughly straight line straddled the
receiver well. The dataset was processed using frequencies up to 120 Hz. Holes at the bottom of the image are due to
a lack of source coverage and shot record noise that was edited out of the data.
